Welcome to our official web site!
On behalf of the newly inaugurated Management Board of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, I acknowledge with gratitude the numerous congratulatory messages from individuals and organizations within and outside the hospital. Our call to duty at this time is indeed very auspicious given the positive enabling environment being created by His Excellency, Governor Ibikunle Amosun FCA. At our inauguration, His Excellency proclaimed that health care delivery will receive significant attention in the year 2014 and charged us to work with the staff of the hospital to come up with appropriate strategies for moving the hospital forward to an enviable position among tertiary health facilities in the country.
At our inaugural meeting on 10th February, your Board decided to conduct a rapid needs assessment of the hospital to identify critical gaps in health care delivery, brainstorm with staff and clients alike to find workable solutions that will directly address the root causes of any sub-optimal performance. To this end our Sub-Committee will be calling on you or your representativesto brainstorm on the way forward. As you all know, the current OOUTH is by no means near the expected standard of a modern tertiary health facility and will need a lot of modernization and expansion to get to where we all desire.
Please be assured that our vision of the teaching hospital is one that is infrastructurally sound with all the essential and functional utilities, staffed by well-trained and highly motivated staff that provide a wide variety of quality, affordable and respectful health care services to all residents of the state in need of such care. To achieve this vision, we will need the cooperation of all and sundry in the hospital. We hope that professional rivalry which has become a clog in the wheels of progress in the health sector will take a back seat. Our services need to be client-centered and not self-centered. We need to remember that the word TEAM means ‘Together Everyone Achieves More’. We are therefore asking for your cooperation to move in the right direction. Posterity will not forgive us if we lose the current opportunity provided by His Excellency to improve the sector in 2014. Let us strike the iron while it is hot. Let us join hands with the Hospital Management led by Prof Alfred Jaiyesimi and your Board to begin the journey into the era of Excellence in Health Care Delivery. God bless you all”.
