Profile of Maternal Morbidity

Profile of Ankle Brachial Index among Adult Patient in OOUTH GOPD.

  • General Out Patient Clinics (GOPC) runs daily from 08.00 am until closing time.
  • Case Review: Cases seen by residents who consulted are taken at random and reviewed with regards to:
    • Communication skills demonstration
    • Patient centeredness of the consultation process
    • Accuracy of diagnosis
    • Solution to patients' management problems
  • Library/Departmental Meeting: One resident at a time is permitted to go to the library for extensive use of academic materials. This is based on a monthly roaster drawn by the most senior resident.
  • Clinical Meeting/Seminar: A major topic of interest in Family Medicine such as Hypertension, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Research in Family Medicine, etc is presented by one or more residents; comments and criticisms are made and current trends highlighted.
  • Case Presentation: A major case fully managed by a resident is presented. Differential diagnosis will be a major consideration. Management problems must be highlighted.
  • Journal Review/Workshop: Residents are to choose and review topics of relevance to Family Medicine using a lead article in a recent journal. They should search for and read quoted references in that journal as well as learn the various methods of writing references.

 

  • Daily ward rounds at the Annex

Consultant rounds are conducted on Mondays and Fridays, while registrar ward rounds hold daily.

Themes of Clinical Activities/Ward Rounds at Shaje OOUTH Annex:

  1. History taking and presentation
  2. Examination of systems
  3. Consultation techniques
  4. Instrument demonstration
  5. Demonstration of clinical techniques/procedures
  6. Issues relating to Management: of Patients, Hospital and Health Systems.
  7. Research essentials. e.g. Basic Medical Statistics, Data Presentation, choosing a research topic, etc.
