ANAESTHESIA

The Department of Anaesthesia of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital came formally into being from December, 1993 when the first Consultant Anaesthetist and H.O.D. was appointed in the person of Dr. A. O. Oyegunle on 1/12/93 Prior to this date, Anaesthesia was coordinated by other departments and anaesthetic services were given by Nurse Anaesthetist with occasional assistance by Medically qualified anaesthetics principally from UCH - Ibadan. The objectives of this department and services given are principally ;
Provision of anaesthetic services for all branches of surgery
Provision of resuscitation anywhere it may be required in the hospital and the Training of medical and paramedical staff of the Principles and Practice of Resuscitation.
Provision of Intensive Care Services as may be required.
The Training of Medical Students and Resident doctors in OOUTH of the principles and practice of anaesthesia.
