Wound swabs/Pus

Cerebrospinal fluid
Venous blood (for detection of haemoparasites and serological tests for detection of syphilis, HIV, Hepatitis BsAg, Hepatitis C and salmonnella infection (Widal test)
Skin snip (fungi and mycobacteria
Blood culture
Body fliud - Pleural, ascitic, pericardial and joint aspirates

Tests Performed in this Laboratory are:

Basic diagnostic tests
Microscopy - Direct microscopy staining techniques - Gram, Zeil Nelson Giemsa, Fungal microscopy
Culture and biochemical tests for isolate identification
Antibiotics sensitivity testing for isolates with significant growth
Serology and immunological tests - Mantoux test, Widal test, and HIV test.
